How to Fix Valorant TPM 2.0 Error on Windows 11 Gigabyte

Quick fixes to resolve the TPM 2.0 issue in Valorant and get back to your gaming session.

Valorant is a first-person shooter game developed by Riot Games. For the uninitiated, it is one of the most played games around the globe that allows users to connect remotely and play together.

Recently, there has been a peculiar addition to the game’s minimum requirement list that now includes TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot. These are the same two components that Microsoft listed in their minimum requirements for Windows 11.

However, there is a pool of users who are not able to launch the game as it shows the TPM or the Secure Boot error despite having the components installed on their Windows 11 PCs. If you don’t have the components on your system and you installed Windows 11 with workarounds, you won’t be able to play Valorant, though. But if you’re among users who are facing this issue despite having them on your system, this guide is for you.

Fortunately, this issue seems to be software-based which is relatively easier to diagnose and resolve when compared to a hardware one. However, before you jump into resolving the error and dive into the gameplay, it is imperative that you understand the reason behind non-functional requirements.

What is Valorant TPM 2.0 Error?

Riot Games have always strived to stop cheating and provide the optimal gaming experience. Its anti-cheat “Vanguard” is one of the best in the industry. Now, they are upping their game by including these two components in their minimum requirements list. It enforces an additional layer of security and makes it much more difficult for players to cheat in the game.

The error is most annoying for the group of users who are on the insider builds of Windows 11. Though the issue is very annoying, it is also necessary to maintain a healthy gameplay experience. So, the best way forward is to resolve the issue.

Now that you are acquainted with the error and why has Riot Games enforced it, let’s head to the solutions that will help you easily resolve it on your computer.

Method 1: Enable the TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot

Having the components installed on your system and having them enabled are two separate things. Hence, even if you have the components installed, make sure they are enabled.

First, head to the Start Menu and click on the ‘Settings’ tile present under the ‘Pinned apps’ section to continue. Alternatively, press the Windows+I keys together on your keyboard to open the app.

Next, make sure you have selected the ‘System’ tab present on the left sidebar of the Settings window to proceed.

After that, from the left section of the window, scroll down to locate and click on the ‘Recovery’ tile to continue.

Now, on the ‘Recovery’ page, click on the ‘Restart Now’ button present on the far right edge of the ‘Advanced Startup’ tile situated under the ‘Recovery options’ section. This will restart your PC immediately.

After that, once your PC restarts, locate and click on the ‘Troubleshoot’ tile to continue.

Then, on the next screen, use the Arrow keys to bring focus to the options listed on the screen and highlight the ‘Enter BIOS Setup’ option. Then, hit Enter on your keyboard to load the BIOS setup on your device.

Once you are on the BIOS setup screen, first, locate and click on the ‘Security’ tab from the left section of the screen to proceed. After that, from the right section of the screen, locate the ‘TPM/ Trusted Platform Module’ option and click on the toggle switch to bring it to the ‘On’ position. In case there’s a dropdown menu, click on it and then select the ‘Enable’ option to proceed.

Next, from the left section of the screen, click on ‘Boot Options’. Then, on the right section, locate the ‘Secure Boot’ option and click on the toggle switch next to it to bring it to the ‘On’ position. In case there is a dropdown menu, click on the menu and select the ‘Enable’ option from it.

Next, either press the F10 key on your keyboard or click on the ‘Save changes & exit’ button present on your screen to apply the change and exit the boot menu of your computer. This will restart your computer.

Now, once your computer has restarted, again launch the Valorant game on your PC to check if the error persists.

Method 2: Disable Discord’s Automatic Boot at Windows Startup

Many of the users have been able to resolve the issue quickly by disabling the auto-startup of the Discord app. If you have the app and it is set to start automatically when Windows boots up, it is definitely recommended that you give this method a try.

First, head to the Start Menu and type Discord to perform a search for it. After that, from the search results, click on the ‘Discord’ tile to open it.

Now, on the Discord window, click on the ‘User settings’ icon present in the bottom right corner of the left sidebar to proceed.

Then, on the Settings screen, scroll down the left sidebar to locate and click on the ‘Windows settings’ tab to continue.

After that, from the right section of the window, click on the toggle button following the ‘Open Discord’ field to bring it to the ‘Off’ position.

Now, just as a precautionary measure, disable its access from the Task Manager as well.

To do so, head to the Start Menu and type Task Manager to perform a search for it. Then, from the search results, click on the Task Manager tile. Otherwise, you can also press the Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys on your computer to open it.

Now, on the Task Manager window, click on the ‘Startup Apps’ icon to proceed.

After that, on the Startup Apps window, locate and click on the ‘Discord’ listing to select it. Next, click on the ‘Disable’ button present in the top right section of the window to disable the app on startup.

Once you have disabled the app, try to run the game and check if the issue has been resolved.

Method 3: Leave the Windows Insider Program

In case none of the above-mentioned solutions seem to work for you, the last resort you have is to leave the Windows Insider program if you are enrolled in it. Since the problem is majorly seen with systems enrolled with preview builds of Windows 11, this is a sure shot to get the game working again on your PC.

Note: You will only be able to shift to a stable build when Microsoft releases it to the public. Leaving the Windows Insider program will NOT immediately shift you to a stable build. Hence, until you are on the stable public release, you might not be able to play the game even after applying this fix.

First, head to the Start Menu and click on the ‘Settings’ tile present under the ‘Pinned apps’ section to continue. Otherwise, type Settings in the menu to perform a search for it.

Next, on the Settings window, locate and click on the ‘Windows Update’ tab present on the left sidebar.

After that, from the right section of the window, scroll down and click on the ‘Windows Insider Program’ tile present under the ‘More Options’ section to continue.

On the next screen, click on the toggle switch following the ‘Unenroll this device when the next version of Windows releases’ option to bring it to the ‘On’ position.

In case you are on the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider Program, you will need to reinstall or reset Windows 11.

If you have never reinstalled Windows before, you will be glad to know that there are multiple ways to do so. You can either create a bootable USB to install Windows from, or you can install it right from the Settings app which is way more convenient.

Hence, for your ease of convenience, we have listed the way to reinstall Windows from the Settings app right here.

Reinstall Windows from the Settings App

You can skip creating a bootable USB for Windows 11 and reinstall it from the Settings on your Windows 11 PC.

Go to the ‘Settings’ app from the Start Menu. Alternatively, you can also press the Windows+I keys together on your keyboard to launch the Settings app.

After that, make sure you’re on the ‘System’ tab from the left panel on the screen.

Now, scroll down and click on the ‘Recovery’ tab present on the right section of the screen.

Then, click on the ‘Reset PC’ option on the ‘Recovery Setting’ screen.

After clicking the ‘Reset PC’ option, a separate window will open.

From this separate window, choose the ‘Keep my files’ option if you do not remove your personal files and folders. However, if you want to have a clean reinstall, click on the ‘Remove everything’ option.

You will then need to choose between ‘Cloud Install’ or ‘Local reinstall’ on the next screen. Click on ‘Cloud Install’ if you wish to download new Windows system files from Microsoft servers. Otherwise, click on the ‘Local reinstall’ button to let your OS gather and reinstall Windows using the files already present on your local storage. We are choosing the ‘Local reinstall option here.

The ‘Cloud download’ option is believed to be more reliable and provides a relatively stable performance as compared to ‘Local reinstall’ as there can be a possibility where the local storage files are damaged or corrupted. However, the ‘Cloud download’ option will consume at least 4 GB of your data.

Note: Neither of the options would require you to plug in any external installation media.

After that, you will be able to see all your current settings for resetting the PC. If you wish to change those, click on the ‘Change settings’ option. Otherwise, click on the ‘Next’ button present on the screen.

Note: If you do not wish to change any settings and have clicked on the ‘Next’ button, please skip the next step.

After clicking on the ‘Change settings’ option, you will be able to change settings regarding keeping or removing your personal files, making them unrecoverable in case you’re giving away your computer. You can also switch from ‘Cloud download’ to ‘Local reinstall’ and vice versa, should you need to by clicking on the toggle switches present under each option.

Once you have toggled the settings according to your preference, click on the ‘Confirm’ button to proceed. Again, we are not opting to change any setting and are going with the default options for the reinstall.

After that, a list of the impacts of resetting will be displayed on your screen. Read them and then click on the ‘Reset’ button to start the process on your machine.

Resetting will take a few hours to complete, and your machine might restart more than once to complete the process.

There you go, people! Hopefully, you will be able to resolve the TPM and Secure Boot error using the solutions provided above and get back to your gaming session.
